It’s all about the brand!
What brand I hear you say! You’re brand! You are a brand did you not know that?
Many people often associate brands just with things. For example soft drinks, sports equipment etc. But believe it or not people are brands to!
When I say a person is a brand I mean what does that person evoke in you when you hear their name.
For example if you think of a famous sports star you might think about dedication, trustworthiness, successful. These are the things that that person wants you to think about them, and they have, through good marketing built up those qualities in your mind.
It’s just like coca cola for example. Most people think of coke and think, great flavour, thirst quenching, sharing with friends. That is what the brand stands for in many peoples eyes.
What is your brand?
You now need to think about what your unique selling point is and how people are going to remember you. What will they see as your brand? Let me explain my brand to you.
I run a number of websites, this one obviously, and also RichardButlerTheSuccessCoach.com. My brand is about truthfulness and honesty when it comes to online marketing and coaching.
You see a lot of so called coaches and gurus are only after one thing, and that’s your money. They will promote products which are garbage just because they are getting a commission on it (sometimes a really good one!)
To be honest that does not sit well with me. Why? Because I don’t think it is right to recommend something to my Blog readers or people who join my list, unless I have tried it and can verify that it is actually worth buying.
Some would argue that this is stupid, but to me I think it is ethical. I would prefer to recommend one good product a month and have my list happy, rather than recommend garbage every other day and then get a bad reputation.
This attitude helps maintain my status as ethical.
Brands can be tarnished
One thing you need to be careful is making sure you protect your brand. Believe me it is so easy to say something on Facebook, recommend a bad product and then get a bad name for yourself. You should always ensure that you are careful about what you say and where you say it!
One mistake can bring your brand crashing down. Just look at Tiger Woods, he went from wholesome golfer to not so wholesome golfer!
Think about your brand, think about who you are and think how you can help people
Until next time
